The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
At Wentworthville Family Dental we offer No Gap and Bulk Bill dental treatment for eligible children under the Australian government’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule commenced on 1 January 2014 and provides access to benefits for basic dental services to around 3 million children aged 2-17 years in families who meet a means test will be eligible for benefits each year. The means test will be the same as the existing Medicare Teen Dental Plan, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A or other certain government payments.

Program information for families:
The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
On 15 December 2016, the previous Minister for Health announced changes to the benefits cap entitlement commencing 1 January 2017 (including changing the benefits cap to $700). On 8 February 2017, the Minister for Health and Minister for Sport, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, announced that the benefit cap entitlement under the CDBS will be reinstated to $1,000. All eligible children will continue to have access to a benefit cap of $1,052 over a two calendar year period in 2023-2024.

Eligibility
Children aged between 2-17 years old, and
Eligible for Medicare, and
Part of a Family Receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A, or
Part of a Family in One of the Following Australian Government Payments:
- Youth Allowance
- ABSTUDY
- Disability Support Pension
- Parenting Payment
- Special Benefit
- Carer Payment
- Double Orphan Pension
- Veteran’s Children Education Scheme (If the Child is 16 or Over)
- Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme (If the Child is 16 or Over)
